But why is 30 so unique?

It is your second chance.

Another chance life gives you to get it right.

Give or take, 20 is an age of ignorance and adventure. And because of that most of us throw most of our time away chasing the prettiest ladies, binging on alcohol, looking for the next get-rich-quick scheme, evading responsibilities, and looking for pleasure at all costs.

Next, the concept of trimester.

According to the Office of National Statistics, UK, “Life expectancy at birth in the UK in 2018 to 2020 was 79.0 years for males and 82.9 years for females.” So if you divide your life into a trimester, 30 to 50 is the second trimester of life.

The importance of that age is that it is an age where you have the most strength and zest to develop the skills and habits that will make your 60s to 80s worthwhile and pleasurable. If you develop the right habits, you won’t be lonely or be a burden to the people around you. Also, you will have fewer health issues, as well as have enough financial resources to get what you need for yourself without relying on your kids too much.

A good life is a pleasurable one.

Now, let’s take a look at pleasure.

“Why pleasure?”

In the words of Kristin Young:

“ Indulging in pleasure is directly linked to our happiness. So the task of relearning what gives us pleasure and how to deeply experience it is imperative if we want to experience more happiness.”

Without a dose of pleasure, your life will be dry and you won’t like it that much. In fact, the lack of it drives most people to end their lives when they reach the point where their pleasure tank gets empty. From that point, every day remains the same and before you know it, they submit their lives to vices that subsequently end it all for them.

Pleasure is key to living a wonderful life
